Ongole is a large town and a municipality in Prakasam district in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. It is the administrative headquarters of Prakasam District. Ongole is famous for its Ongolu Gitta which are considered virile and of superior stock. This is one of the major Zebu cattle breeds in the world. Ongole and Prakasam region is a major centre for Tobacco production and Aqua culture in India.
